Psychotherapy
Ask yourself: what can therapy do for me?
Life can be hard and it’s easy to get overwhelmed. We often feel we have to “do it all” on our own; this can leave us feeling unbalanced, sad, anxious, lonely, shameful, hopeless and other undesired emotions. Therapy is a way to help with a broad variety of emotional and mental health challenges by talking about our struggles to gain support and heal, developing skills to cope, and implementing lifestyle changes that improve wellbeing.

Our sessions are designed to foster a collaborative and trusting relationship, allowing you to feel comfortable and understood. Sessions are more than just conversations; they are opportunities for self-discovery and empowerment. I believe that every individual can overcome obstacles and achieve personal growth. I can help you develop coping strategies, enhance self-awareness, and build resilience using an individualized approach to fit your needs. My goal is to equip you with the skills and insights necessary to lead a healthier, balanced, and more fulfilling life. With my office located just a block the St Croix River in Hudson, WI, I offer my clients an opportunity to utilize the healing powers of nature through Walk and Talk Therapy as a way to support the therapeutic progress. Not only does this include physical health benefits associated with emotional wellbeing but also fosters an environment for developing new coping strategies through the discovery of the connection with nature.

Ask yourself: how do I know if you're the right fit for me?
This is such an important question! Not all therapists take the same approach; you want to make sure your therapist understands your needs and has an approach that aligns with your beliefs about healing. Contact me to schedule a free 10-minute consultation to see if we are a good fit.

My comprehensive approach in exploring sleep, exercise, spirituality, relationships, nature, environment, culture/community, and a focus on nutrition allows me to learn about your areas of need as well as taking advantage of strengths you have that can help you in your journey. I enjoy working with adults who are experiencing anxiety, stress, life transitions/adjustments, challenges with self-esteem, and exploration of spirituality.

I use a variety of evidenced-based interventions grounded in compassion. I find a passion for and high success in using a "bottom up" approach. "Bottom-up" works by bringing awareness to our physical sensations and interpreting these to make sense of our thoughts and emotions. Versus a "top-down" approach which works by interpreting incoming information based on prior knowledge, experiences, and expectations. Think of bottom-up as a way to recognize the mind-body connection to soothe and navigate thoughts and emotions and the top-down approach which focuses on our thought patterns impacting our physical sensations/symptoms. Both can be effective and my clients and I will use the approaches that best fits their individual needs.
A few of my favorite interventions (many aligned with bottom-up approach) are: Mindfulness, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT/Tapping), Polyvagal Theory, Breathwork, Walk and Talk Therapy, and Ecotherapy.
I also utilize traditional interventions from a top-down approach including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Insight Oriented Therapy, Psychoeducation, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Interpersonal Psychotherapy, and many others.

What you can expect in your first session

You'll be welcomed into a safe space held just for you to begin to share what you are finding challenging. There is no "right" or "wrong" way to begin this process and I open a space to share what you're comfortable with. I believe a therapeutic relationship and trust can take time to develop and I will not push you to talk about things you are not ready for. I believe in the importance of collaboration in the therapeutic process so we will also talk about your goals for therapy and develop a plan together.
I'm interested in exploring what therapy can do for me; where do I start?
Prior to scheduling an appointment, I'd love to speak with you through a free 10 minute consultation to determine if my approach to therapy aligns with your needs so you can experience the benefits of a desired emotional place of wellbeing. This is also a great opportunity to ask any questions you may have about my practice and for us to get to know each a bit!

If we determine we are a good fit for each other, you will complete intake paperwork including consent forms and questionaries prior to scheduling an intake session. This helps me to review your areas of strength and need so we can dive more quickly into topics
you'd like to focus on. Additionally, I will collect your insurance information to verify benefits.
